I need to wire a custom tele with a SD lil' 59 on the neck and a
standard tele bridge pickup. No tone pots. No switch. I want to use
two standard 250 K volume pots and a input jack.

I know that the hot lead for the jack typically connects to the center
post of the volume pot. Can I just run this lead to the center of both
volume pots and connect the pickup leads to one end of the volume pot
posts. All of the negative wires will be run to one ground.

Thanks for your help. This would seem to be the most simple wiring
scheme possible for two pickups.

If you do this you'll find that the volume controls interact, i.e. turn
either one to zero, and you get no signal.

Better to connect each pickup to the centre lug of the pots, and run the
output down the outer legs (those not connected to earth) to the hot lug of
the jack socket.

Thanks for the help. I wired the hot wire from each pickup to the
middle posts. The hot wire from the input jack was wired to the outer
post and the ground to the other outer posts. Everything works fine.

You need to wire yout Tele the way a Jazz Bass is wired. Connect the
lead from each pickup to the center terminal on the pot you want to be
its volume control. Wire the two "hot" pot terminals to the hot
terminal of the output jack. Take a look at this wiring diagram:

Just eliminate the tone control part of the circuit.

Good luck!
